About
The CPS Sisters in Zimbabwe have committed themselves to assisting students in need of accommodation in Harare, which saw the first group of twelve female students moving into the hostel at 13 Churchill Avenue in January 1999. The aim of its foundation was to ensure the education of the girl child and, with the increasing number of female students who fail to complete their tertiary level studies due to lack of affordable accommodation in Harare, the Sisters decided to offer additional accommodation facilities for eighteen female students at the above-mentioned address. Both the old and the new hostel are within walking distance to the University of Zimbabwe and Women’s University in Africa. Each student pays a minimum fee which is far below the prevailing market rates and which is mainly for payment of electricity and water bills as well as for general repairs and maintenance of the place. In one year, this installation gives a solar yield of 13.56 MWh and is responsible for the avoidance of 4960.00 kilograms of CO2 emissions.
