The Ludwig Ndinda Primary School is a rural school situated 345 km south of Okakarara in
the Otjozondjupa region.
The school is a Government School under the Ministry of Basic Education and Culture, but
its hostel is privately funded and was constructed by the Namibian German Special
Initiative Program (GIZ) and handed to the Namibian Government but it is still not funded
by Government but by donors and farmers in the area.
The student population is 400 learners at the school. The majority of the learners are from
the San Community (the Bushmen), namely the Ovatue and Ovazemba tribes. They are
Namibia’s most marginalized community and can only be found residing outside other
regions from the City Windhoek. It is the most underdeveloped and poorest community in
the country. They are nomadic of nature and had struggled over the years to attend
schooling. This is a unique situation where you find them committed to schooling.
In one year, this installation gives a solar yield of 41.63 MWh and is responsible for the avoidance of 14397.00 kilograms of CO2 emissions.
