Marondera, Zimbabwe
The orphanage is run by the sisters of the Roman Catholic Church. It is an institution that offers accommodation, food, education and guidance to orphans. The orphans live on the premises and they are taken care of at the orphanage. The Abbot Francis Pfanner Children’s home was formally a convent of the Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood. It was opened and blessed in March 1994. Due to the sisters’ involvement in the community, they saw a rising need to look after orphaned and vulnerable children in Marondera, so opened this convent for the children as a safe haven. In 2009 the sisters modified to suit the needs of the children. In 2010 the approval was granted to list the house from residential to institutional.
In one year, this installation gives a solar yield of 11.78 MWh and is responsible for the avoidance of 4074.90 kilograms of CO2 emissions.
