Theoretical Training Courses

From October 14th to 30th, four SOLTRAIN+ theoretical training courses were organized in Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Namibia. These courses, were primarily focused on "Train the Trainer" sessions for instructors, teachers, and technical staff. The advanced courses were specifically oriented towards medium- to large-scale solar thermal systems, with a special focus on the design and dimensioning of these systems.

Rudolf Moschik and Rene Baumann from the Austrian Institute for Sustainable Technologies (AEE INTEC) conducted the courses, covering both theoretical and practical aspects of designing, installing, quality control, commissioning, maintenance, and monitoring of solar thermal systems. Other key topics included training on simulation programs and preparing energy audits for the commercial and residential sectors.

Participants included instructors, teachers, professionals, renewable heating and cooling (RHC) technology providers, consultants, project developers, and members of academia. In total, over 80 participants, including 25 women, completed the training.

This is in line with the ultimate goal of the SOLTRAIN+ project to have well-trained trainers who can provide these services to other key groups in the sector.
