The SOLTRAIN+ project, which began in January 2023, promises four more years of exciting new developments in the field of renewable heating and cooling in Southern Africa. Attending the SOLTRAIN+ conference will provide a platform for knowledge exchange, allowing participants to gain valuable insights into these developments.

Scope of SOLTRAIN+

The SOLTRAIN success story will continue with AEE INTEC as the project leader, together with nine partners in five Southern African countries (Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe). From 2023 to 2026, the SOLTRAIN+ project will maintain its focus on solar thermal capacity building and demonstration projects. The "+" symbolizes the expanded scope, encompassing renewable heating and cooling solutions with a specific emphasis on heat pumps and excess heat recovery in industries, commerce, hospitals, hotels, and social housing. Nevertheless, solar thermal will remain the centerpiece of all activities. Additionally, dedicated work packages will address gender activities and outreach efforts to other countries in the SADC region. The project is funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).

The ongoing activities of the SOLTRAIN+ project will be presented at the 7th SOLTRAIN conference at the Hilton Hotel in Windhoek, Namibia:

  • Wednesday the 22nd November: Technical Tour to 3 Solar Systems
  • Thursday the 23rd November: SOLTRAIN+ Conference

Early pre-registration is now active at the following link with the option to confirm attendance closer to the time.
