SOLTRAIN+ Launches Tender for Renewable Heating and Cooling Training Rigs Across the SADC Region

SOLTRAIN+ has released a new Request for Proposals (RFP) for the design, production, transportation, and installation of four Renewable Heating and Cooling Training Rigs. These training systems will strengthen hands-on technical capacity in solar thermal and heat-pump technologies in four SADC countries: Zambia, Eswatini, Malawi, and Tanzania.

The new training rigs form part of SOLTRAIN+’s planned expansion into additional SADC states. Each rig will be installed at local vocational or technical training centres to enhance practical learning for technicians, installers, and sector stakeholders.
What the Tender Covers
The successful supplier will be responsible for delivering four complete training rigs, each comprising:
A pumped solar thermal system with flat-plate collector, storage tank (100–200 litre), and heat pump
A thermosiphon system with heat-pipe collector and storage tank
Smart monitoring and control equipment
Modular mounting options for repeated assembly and disassembly during training
Full documentation, manuals, and a minimum two-day training session for local stakeholders at each site

Rigs will be delivered to institutions in:
Zambia
Eswatini
Malawi
Tanzania
Key Milestone Deadlines
Manufacturing completion: 28 February 2026
Delivery to all four sites: 31 March 2026
Completion of training documentation: 31 May 2026
The tender submission deadline is 19 December 2025 at 17:00 CAT.
Budget and Evaluation
The budget range for the tender is EUR 45,000–57,000 (gross), inclusive of manufacturing, monitoring equipment, transportation, installation, training, VAT, and taxes.
