SOLTRAIN+ has released a new Request for Proposals (RFP) for the design, production, transportation, and installation of four Renewable Heating and Cooling Training Rigs. These training systems will strengthen hands-on technical capacity in solar thermal and heat-pump technologies in four SADC countries: Zambia, Eswatini, Malawi, and Tanzania.

Monitoring and control of SOLTRAIN system in Namibia

The new training rigs form part of SOLTRAIN+’s planned expansion into additional SADC states. Each rig will be installed at local vocational or technical training centres to enhance practical learning for technicians, installers, and sector stakeholders.

What the Tender Covers

  • The successful supplier will be responsible for delivering four complete training rigs, each comprising:
  • A pumped solar thermal system with flat-plate collector, storage tank (100–200 litre), and heat pump
  • A thermosiphon system with heat-pipe collector and storage tank
  • Smart monitoring and control equipment
  • Modular mounting options for repeated assembly and disassembly during training
  • Full documentation, manuals, and a minimum two-day training session for local stakeholders at each site

Countries and Timeline

Rigs will be delivered to institutions in:

  • Zambia
  • Eswatini
  • Malawi
  • Tanzania

Key Milestone Deadlines

  • Manufacturing completion: 28 February 2026
  • Delivery to all four sites: 31 March 2026
  • Completion of training documentation: 31 May 2026

The tender submission deadline is 15 December 2025 at 17:00 CAT.

Budget and Evaluation

The budget range for the tender is EUR 45,000–57,000 (gross), inclusive of manufacturing, monitoring equipment, transportation, installation, training, VAT, and taxes.

Proposals will be evaluated on:

  • Technical experience and quality of previous work
