A regional initiative on capacity building and the demonstration of solar thermal systems in the SADC region. SOLTRAIN aims to support target countries in changing from a largely fossil-based energy supply system to a sustainable supply structure based on renewable energy in general, and on solar thermal in particular.
9th SOLTRAIN+ Conference
The 9th SOLTRAIN+ Conference will take place in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, from 23–27 February 2026, at the Elephant Hills Hotel as part of the 2nd SADC Sustainable Energy Week. The event will be hosted by the National University of Science and Technology (NUST).
Last SOLTRAIN+ bursary call
We encourage TVET, undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in programmes in the SOLTRAIN+ countries to apply for bursaries in the field of renewable heating and cooling, with a particular focus on solar thermal energy.
